China’s state-owned China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has successfully commenced operations at a new gas field in the Bohai Sea, offshore China.
The Bozhong 19-6 Gas Field 13-2 Block development project is situated in the central part of the Bohai Sea and is positioned in waters with an average depth of about 23 meters.
Key production infrastructure at the site includes a wellhead platform, with plans to bring 10 development wells online.
By 2026, the project is anticipated to reach its peak output, which is expected to be around 5,800 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
CNOOC fully owns and operates this project, maintaining a 100% interest.
In a significant development in March 2024, CNOOC announced a major oilfield discovery in the Bohai Sea, which confirmed over 100 million tons of oil equivalent in proven reserves.
This significant find occurred at the Qinhuangdao 27-3 field, located in the north-central area of the Bohai Sea.
